What airport serves Monterey?

The Monterey Airport is located approximately 5 miles from the harbor, however this airport is small and only serves a few airlines.  The following airports are also located nearby to Monterey: Mineta San Jose International (74 Miles), Oakland International (105 Miles), and the San Francisco International (113 Miles).

Where should my crew stay while we are in Monterey?

How many Shields are raced in Monterey?

The Monterey Bay is home to Shields Fleets #7 and #12.  Between the two fleets, there are currently 14 Shields boats.

How do I get my boat to Monterey?

By air, by land, or by sea!  The race organizers are willing to help with any logistics required to ship your boat to Monterey.  Hoists are available adjacent to the Yacht Club and at the Monterey Bay Boatworks to get your boat into the water.  If you are interesting in joining with other sailors to split the cost of shipping multiple Shields in one container, please contact the race organizers and they will help facilitate shipment.

How do I get my sails there?

FedEx has proven to be a great option to ship your sails across the national.  It usually costs about $250 each way and the travel time takes approximately 5 days.  We recommend contacting your local sail maker to obtain long boxes and rolling the main & jib separately into the large boxes.
